Finally back at the hotel after a very long and exciting day. We started our morning with working on our power point presentation. In the afternoon we met with the District Governor, Tatsu Hiki, who took the time out of his busy schedule to have lunch with us and show us his hospital. At the end of the tour his wife gave the ladies beautiful rotary pins. Here is our fearless team leader, Bruce Dearnley presenting the District Governor our district flag.
After our tour we went to Hiroshi's condo, the top level in the tallest building of Utsunomiya. What a view! We had orientation on Japan and they helped us translate some of our powerpoint into Japanese. They drilled us with our pronunciations which was extremely helpful. But by the end I think we all felt our tongues were tongue tied!
We got to see a little of the city and ended our evening with a welcome party with a feast! The food is was oishiikata. Super yummy and lots of it. I was able to capture Bruce with his first ever bite of sashimi! It has been an amazing day and I have already lost track of what day of the week it is. We have another full day ahead of us tomorrow. And we are giving our first presentation to a group of 70. Wish us luck!
Sayounara, Kelly
