This will be the first of a series. I want to take this time to discuss some of my team's obsessions thus far in the Philippines:
MASSAGES!
I just finished up my second in-home massage. They. are. awesome! Massages are really inexpensive here. I am not positive, but I think they are around $10US for 90 minutes (depending on where you go). My host family both this week and last week graciously called in a masseuse for me. (Thank you, host families!!!) They will come at whatever time you want and poof! massage time. Even some of the naysayers may now be massage addicts ;) They know who they are.
UBE
This, my friends, was a new treat for me. Ube is what most Filipino people call purple yam. It is in many delicious desserts. So far I have tried: ube ice cream, blueberry ube shake (SO good) and halo halo (containing ube). I am continuing my quest to sample more ube as the weeks go on.
Stay tuned, b/c I already know what I am putting in part two!
Pic is of Jamie and I with our ube ice cream. We decided to cheers each other with it (please note Theresa's face in the background).
